It was supposed to be the perfect homecoming for Major Charles Rane (William Devane). After being held as a POW for seven years, he's finally coming home to his wife and child. After receiving a hero's welcome, he's given a box of valuable coins as a symbolic gesture for his sacrifice. But some no-good hoods have their eyes set on getting those coins for themselves. When a robbery goes bad, Charles's wife and child are murdered and his hand is destroyed. Now with a prosthetic hook for a hand and a little help from his war buddy Johnny (Tommy Lee Jones), Rane will bring the pain to those who did him wrong.
