Every generation gets the wax museum horror movie it deserves, and in 2005 horror-loving teenagers flocked to multiplexes to “watch Paris die” in House Of Wax. That ad campaign revolved around one of the film’s stars, Paris Hilton, the hotel heiress who had broken out thanks to her reality television show The Simple Life; by 2005, she had become a “love her or hate her” personality in pop culture, which had both fans and detractors plopping down some cash for the Dark Castle Entertainment release. Two decades earlier, a cadre of genre favorites including Zack Galligan, Deborah Foreman, David Warner, Miles O’Keefe, and Patrick Macnee appeared in one of the hippest horror movies of the ‘80s with Waxwork, a rowdy monster mash that features vampires, werewolves, zombies, and even a little bit of kink courtesy of writer/director Anthony Hickox and the Marquis De Sade.
