The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild weekend when local filmmakers write, shoot, edit and do whatever it takes to complete a short film in just 48 hours! More than 50 teams entered the 2026 competition for a chance to be named the overall winner in Chicago and earn an entry into the international short film festival, Filmapalooza. Don't miss your chance to see this year's top films as voted on by a panel of local judges and see who takes home the top prize! Your ticket includes 12 short films and a Q & A with the winning filmmakers!
Music Box Theatre screens films of all genres and from every era of cinema, both new releases and repertory. These films may sometimes contain upsetting, outdated, or offensive material. While we aim to introduce many of our screenings, we do not always provide warnings about potentially triggering content within the films we screen. We encourage our patrons to research the film before they attend using trailers, reviews, or content information found on Common Sense Media, IMDb and DoesTheDogDie.com.
