Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt star in the longest film to be released on 70mm since The Hateful Eight, from the director of the much less inflammatory La La Land. Damien Chazelle’s wildly divisive Babylon is a film of gaudy excesses presented with no intermission, covering the transition from silent pictures to sound à la Singin’ in the Rain but with much more everything. Originally screened in 70mm only in Toronto and New York, Babylon now arrives on its slow motion miniature road show in Chicago, hopefully not delivered by elephant. Rated R for strong and crude sexual content, graphic nudity, bloody violence, drug use, and pervasive language.
