An entire generation of horror filmmakers owes a debt to Ginger Snaps. Released at the turn of the millennium, John Fawcett’s Canadian feminist werewolf movie was an early entry into the menstrual-horror subgenre, taking the coming-of-age of a suburban outcast and turning it into a sharp and subversive werewolf story. Katharine Isabelle stars as Ginger, the elder of two death-obsessed sisters who’s attacked by a werewolf on the same night she starts her first period. Emily Perkins plays Ginger’s younger sibling Brigitte, who has to save Ginger from herself when the full moon rises on Halloween night. Recommended for fans of Raw and  Jennifer’s Body!
