In 1987, Clive Barker burst onto the horror scene with Hellraiser. Adapting his own novella The Hellbound Heart, Barker told the tale of the sadomasochistic, dimension-hopping Cenobites, who feed on the murky line between pain and pleasure and inflict it on anyone who solves their puzzle box. Hellraiser ushered in a new era of horror obsessed with S&M, exploring the limits of what humans can—and want to—take. Apparently, Barker struck a nerve, as two short years later Indonesian filmmaker Susilo S.W.D. decided to helm a near shot-for-shot remake (save a few hysterical exclusions) called Roh, a.k.a. Spirit. Made for clearly no money, but with boatloads of determination, ingenuity, and heart, you don't want to miss your chance to see what the Cenobites get up to in Indonesia.
