Written and directed by Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan, Dolemite is My Name) Hustle & Flow is an epic American success story like no other, set against the warm, neon-soaked streets of Memphis, Tennessee. Starring Terrence Howard as Dee-Jay, an unsuccessful pimp desperately looking to transform his life by becoming a successful hip-hop artist. A chance encounter with an old friend with a foot in the music business and the purchase of a Casio keyboard in the parking lot of a strip club finally kicks open the door to opportunity. In an extremely sweaty home studio built with more love than acoustic panels, Dee-Jay’s motley crew of friends, lovers, and working girls gather to make the music they hope will change their lives. With memorable turns by Anthony Anderson, Taraji P. Henson, and Taryn Manning (8 Mile), cameos by legendary recording artists Isaac Hayes and Ludacris, and a hard-hitting soundtrack led by Memphis’s own Al Kapone and Three 6 Mafia (whose song  "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" won the Best Original Song Oscar that year). Produced by the late, great filmmaker John Singleton (Boyz N the Hood, Poetic Justice) and featuring stunning cinematography by Amy Vincent (Eve’s Bayou).
