***Antonio Fargas in Attendance***
If you’re a big fan of flicks like Shaft, Coffy, Black Caesar, Foxy Brown, The Mack, Super Fly, and Cleopatra Jones, then you’ve probably already seen this Airplane!-style parody more than once. And even if you’re a total newbie to the wonderful world of blaxploitation cinema, you’ll still find lots of good, goofy, silly material in Keenen Ivory Wayans’ affectionate, on-point lampoon of ‘70s street crime cinema. And yes; our friend Antonio Fargas earns a few big laughs of his own.
After film screening a lifetime achievement award will be given to Antonio Fargas
Shaft. Across 110th Street. Cleopatra Jones. Foxy Brown. Starsky and Hutch. I’m Gonna Git You Sucka! These are just a few of the exploitation classics that have been enlivened by the presence of character actor extraordinaire Antonio Fargas, whose body of work stretches from the late 1960s to our closing night film, BEYOND SKYLINE. Join us in celebrating this beloved veteran performer, as we highlight his eclectic and extensive body of work.
Music Box Theatre screens films of all genres and from every era of cinema, both new releases and repertory. These films may sometimes contain upsetting, outdated, or offensive material. While we aim to introduce many of our screenings, we do not always provide warnings about potentially triggering content within the films we screen. We encourage our patrons to research the film before they attend using trailers, reviews, or content information found on Common Sense Media, IMDb and DoesTheDogDie.com.
