Alfonso, Eduardo, and his wife Cristina are lost, and a strange monk takes them to an ancient convent where their personalities change. Inexplicable situations occur, and Cristina tries to seduce Alfonso.

El fantasma del convento is the second Mexican horror film ever made.

Restored by UCLA Film & Television Archive in conjunction with The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and in collaboration with the Permanencia Voluntaria Film Archive and Filmoteca de la UNAM. Preserved from the 35mm nitrate picture and track negatives and a 16mm acetate composite dupe negative. This film follows the success of La Llorna (1933) that played at the Music Box of Horrors Drive-In edition. The film is very atmospheric and steeped in Mexican mysticism. Max Urban uses his score to set the tone for this film.
