When this movie came out a decade ago, its meat-and-potatoes slow cinema tempo (emphasis on the potatoes) seemed to herald the end of cinema. Cinema is still kicking, but Béla Tarr never made another feature, and we would be afraid to even contemplate what a post-apocalyptic return would herald.
