Fleeing the 1980 Civil War in El Salvador, Dora Rodriguez, along with 25 other asylum seekers, were abandoned by their guide in the relentless Sonoran desert. Only half of them survived. Borderlands tells Dora's story, drawing attention to the systemic violence of the border-industrial complex and US imperialism while showing the quiet power of Dora's 45 years of work fighting tirelessly for women’s' and migrants' rights.
Today, that same fight continues. Join your neighbors to learn about the inner workings of the immigration crisis, U.S. imperialism, and the human cost of political violence, followed by practical training in how to keep our neighbors safe: an introduction to rapid response and a first aid training led by the Edgeville Community Rapid Response team. Learn what to do and say to safely and effectively document and report ICE activity, and stock up on KYR cards and whistles. $5 per ticket; all proceeds will be donated to Salvavision. Let’s organize.
