Screening as a part of Sapphopalooza
Co-presented by Women & Children First Bookstore
Absent-minded photographer Polly (Sheila McCarthy) lands a job at an art gallery in Toronto operated by a woman named Gabrielle (Paule Baillargeon). Gabrielle tells Polly she regrets she never became a great painter. Polly is impressed with Gabrielle's paintings, however, and after she smuggles one into a gallery show, a critic praises it as a masterpiece. But when it turns out to be the work of Gabrielle's lover (Ann-Marie MacDonald), Polly begins to understand how the art world works.
Women & Children First believes in the transformative power of literature. As intersectional trans-inclusive feminists, we believe books are tools for liberation. Since 1979, we have celebrated and amplified underrepresented voices. We remain one of the oldest feminist bookstores in the country.
