“Andrzej Wajda was one of the greatest filmmakers we’ve ever had. His craftsmanship, his fearless commitment to the truth, his deep love for his homeland, his obsessive passion for cinema—you can feel it all in every frame and every cut of every picture he ever made. Wajda left behind one of the most formidable bodies of work in the history of the art form. He was a true master.” –Martin Scorsese
