The National Hellenic Museum, located in Chicago’s historic Greektown, shares the story of the Greek American experience through exhibitions, educational programs, and community events that connect history to present day. With a collection of more than 10,000 artifacts and oral histories, the museum celebrates themes of migration, identity, resilience, and cultural legacy.
In 2026, The NHM is celebrating A Year with the Odyssey, honoring Homer’s timeless epic through a series of dynamic public programs and exhibitions. Highlights include the Trial of Odysseus at the Harris Theater this past March, where the hero stood before a live court to answer for his actions; NHM’s newest exhibit The Odyssey Reimagined- where artists will reinterpret Odysseus’ arduous journey home; and Homerathon, an annual communal reading of the poem in partnership with the University of Illinois – Chicago.
