A Part of The Music Box 70mm Film Festival 2022
New 70mm Print with DTS Sound from Universal!
The granddaddy of the all-star disaster movie, Airport spawned three sequels, direct knock-offs (Concorde Affaire ‘79), indirect knock-offs (The Poseidon Adventure, Earthquake), and a ZAZ parody (Airplane!) that probably looms larger than the original for modern viewers. But Airport was an enormous success in its day–a Best Picture nominee, the year’s second-highest grossing film (behind only Love Story), and the capstone achievement of longtime Universal producer Ross Hunter who brought cinephiles the Douglas Sirk movies they love. The 707-sized cast includes Burts Lancaster, Dean Martin, Jean Seberg, George Kennedy, Jacqueline Bisset, Van Heflin, Mauren Stapleton, and Helen Hayes. See all the blinking lights and doodads of air traffic control panels in the crystal-clear majesty of Todd-AO. Barf bags not included.
***This is the first public screening of a brand new 70mm print!***

While we aim to introduce many of our screenings, we do not always provide warnings about potentially triggering content within the films we screen. We encourage our patrons to research the film before they attend using trailers, reviews, or content information found on Common Sense Media, IMDb and DoesTheDogDie.com.
