Mel Brooks takes a bite out of Bram Stoker’s classic vampire tale with DRACULA: DEAD AND LOVING IT. Leslie Neilson stars as the titular Transylvanian Count who journeys to England with the help of his slave Renfield (a never-spazzier Peter MacNicol) to seek a new country estate and—more importantly—new chesty paramours. But he'll face off against a schmaltzy Dr. Van Helsing (Brooks) who’s packing supernatural expertise as well as some choice Yiddish insults. Brooks and co. have more fun than a coffin full of bats lampooning not just the Tod Browning classic, but countless Hammer spin-offs, and the then-recent Coppola adaptation. Full of heaving bosoms, atmospheric fog, and more over-the-top British accents than you can shake a wooden stake at, this bloodthirsty parody pulses with that classic Mel Brooks’ zing and was the last time he sat in the director’s chair. Being undead has never been so sexy.
