New 70mm Print with DTS Sound from Universal!

Stanley Kubrick was only thirty years old when he directed SPARTACUS, Universal Studios’ answer to BEN HUR, shot in Super Technirama 70 with a cast of 10,500 people. An allegory for the Hollywood Blacklist that simultaneously helped end it, SPARTACUS is tense, brutal, and beautiful. With Charles Laughton, Laurence Olivier, Jean Simmons, an Oscar-winning Peter Ustinov, and Kirk Douglas as SPARTACUS. This 70mm print was made from Universal’s 4K Restoration and was struck in January 2020 and delivered to the studio days before the pandemic shutdown.

***This is the second screening of this print, following its premiere at the 13th Annual Turner Classic Movies Classic Film Festival.***
