The past always has a way of coming back, but it does so in particularly gruesome fashion in The Cycle, from The Head Hunters director Jordan Downey. Meg (Deborah Ann Woll) is a forensic scientist who spends her days obsessing over the details of human decomposition. She’s the best in the business, but when she’s called in to consult on a new case, it’s not for her expertise: As it turns out, one of the three corpses recently discovered in a bizarre tableau belongs to Meg’s biological father, who abandoned her when she was four years old. And that’s just the beginning of the unsettling coincidences and inexplicable events in this grim and grisly supernatural horror film.
